Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks
-
These brilliant fully intermixable , fast drying, and water resistant inks are formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a superior shellac solution
-
Iach label has been individually designed by many of Britains finest illustrators
-
Black and white inks are pigmented and the gold and silver are made with metallic powders, the remaining colours are made from soluble dyes or extreme brilliance which are dissolved in a high grade shellac binder.
-
The shellac makes these inks virtually water proof with the exception of gold and silver.
-
Inks are therefore inter-mixable and it enables one colour to be laid over another for tonal effects without the fear of it running or lifting.
-
The colour is ready to use right out of the bottle, maybe diluted with water to reduce strength or increase transparency, use distilled water to avoid dye separating  from the binder.
-
They do not possess the lightfast properties of pigmented colours and will fade over time if in direct light( exception with white and black because they are pigmented  and gold and silver are metal based( lightfast but will tarnish over time.)
-
Drawing inks can be applied with: Â ruling pen, technical pen, airbrush, brush.( do not use fountain pens because of the shellac binder)
