Microcrystalline Wax

  • Mineral wax consisting of hydrocarbons structured as fine crystals

  • Odorless , insoluble in water, soluble in warm alcohol, oils and other melted waxes

  • This wax is used by oil painters to create matte colours

  • Opaque, malleable, amorpheus

  • Fumes are emitted when this product is used , make sure to use adequate ventilation

  • Its more pliable thus less likely to crack than beeswax

  • It will yellow over time

  • Has the ability to bind both oils and solvents

  • Compatible with all kinds of waxes and oils

  • Higher quality melting point 54 to 95o C

  • Available in 1lb block


Pure Beeswax

  • Is a natural wax produced in the beehive of honey bees

  • Available in 1lb block


Bleached Beeswax

  • Purified beeswax

  • Achieves its color through a chemical bleaching process

  • Used for candle making and by oil painters in their mediums

  • Used to create matte colours or varnishes

  • Remember : if using for encaustic purposes , Enkauskitkos recommends the use of US pharmaceutical grades Beeswax because it is bleached and chemical free
