Mahl stick ( Maulstick)

  • Aluminum rod with cork ball with a soft natural leather cover

  • Dated back in the 16th through the 19 century , artist used the mahl stick as part of their equipment to paint self portraits (eg. Vermeer’s “Art of the Painting” the stick is included   in the painting )

  • Use as an armrest to relieve pain in shoulders

  • Also stabilizes brush arm when working in either small or large format of painting or drawing

  • Expands to 35 ½ “ length
